BarVault Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026
BarVault — Home Bar & Bottle Manager is an app for keeping track of a personal collection of bottles, published by Andadasi (Karen Simonyan) and distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. This policy covers both the iOS and Android versions.
Your collection never leaves your device
BarVault has no accounts, no sign-up, no servers and no sync. Everything you enter — bottles, products, quantities, notes, wishlist items — is stored in a database on your own device and is never sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see your collection, and there is nothing on our side that could.
Deleting the app removes that database and everything in it.
What is stored on your device
- Your bottles and products: names, categories, volumes, opened status, how much is left, expiration settings and any notes you write.
- Your wishlist, including any target price and shop you record.
- Any photographs you attach to a bottle, kept in the app's own storage.
- Your settings, such as the light or dark appearance choice, and your preferred volume unit.
None of this is collected by us.
Backups go only where you send them
BarVault can export your collection as a single file. You choose where that file goes using your device's own file picker — on-device storage, Files, Google Drive, iCloud Drive, or wherever else you select. Your device writes it directly to the destination you pick.
We never receive that file, and BarVault does not upload it anywhere on its own. Once a backup is in a cloud service you have chosen, it is governed by that service's privacy policy rather than this one.
Photographs are not included in that file. The backup records that a bottle has a picture, but the image itself stays on your device.
Photographs
You can attach one photograph to a bottle, taken with the camera or chosen from your photo library. BarVault asks for camera or photo access only at the moment you tap to add a picture, never when the app starts, and declining costs you nothing else: the bottle still saves, without an image.
Pictures are resized on your device and written into the app's own private storage. They are never uploaded, never sent to us, and are not readable by other apps. Deleting a bottle deletes its photograph with it, and deleting the app removes them all.
Purchases
BarVault offers an optional one-off purchase that removes the advertising, and optional tips. These are handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details, your name, or your email address — the store tells the app only whether the purchase exists.
All the app keeps is a note on your device that the purchase is active. If you reinstall the app or move to a new device, it asks the store whether your account already owns it, which is how the purchase comes back without you doing anything. There is still no account with us and nothing is stored on our side.
Advertising
BarVault shows a banner advertisement, served by Google AdMob. This is the only third-party component in the app, and the only part that collects anything at all.
To serve ads, AdMob may access your device's advertising identifier — the Advertising ID on Android, or the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) on iOS — together with technical information such as device type, operating system version and approximate region. This is collected and used by Google, not by us: we receive only aggregate reports of how many ads were shown, never anything about you.
Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy & Terms, and you can review Google's advertising controls at My Ad Center.
Your choices
- On iOS, the app asks permission to track using Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Decline and AdMob serves non-personalised ads instead. You can change this later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, a consent form appears the first time the app runs. You can reopen it at any time from Settings → Ad privacy options inside BarVault, and withdraw consent as easily as you gave it.
- On Android, you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in your device settings.
- On iOS, BarVault also uses Apple's SKAdNetwork, which measures advertising effectiveness without identifying you.
What we do not do
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
- No crash reporting.
- No cookies or tracking pixels.
- No email address, name, contact details, or account of any kind.
- No selling or sharing of personal data. We hold none to sell.
Store privacy declarations
These match what is described above.
| Store | Declared |
|---|---|
| Apple App Store | Device ID, used for Third-Party Advertising, not linked to your identity, used for tracking. Offers in-app purchases. |
| Google Play | Contains ads; uses the Advertising ID; offers in-app purchases. Requests camera access, used only to photograph a bottle. |
Children
BarVault is about alcoholic drinks and is rated for adults. It is not directed at children, and we knowingly collect nothing from anyone.
Your rights
Because your collection stays on your device, requests to access, correct, export or delete it are things you can do yourself, at any time, without asking us: the data is already in your hands, exportable through the backup feature, and removed entirely when you delete the app.
For the advertising identifier described above, the controls under Your choices apply, and Google's own privacy tools cover data held by Google.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
